Miral Ahmed
Kinesiology and Recreation Management Student
I always knew I wanted to go into medicine from a young age. In high school I also fell in love with physics. I mostly took science courses in high school and then I studied medical physics in the faculty of science for my undergrad. I’m a first year right now about to go into second year med and I love every second of it!
Aarushi Dhawan
Dentistry Student
Aarushi Dhawan is a dental student in the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Aarushi’s passion for dentistry began from early childhood. However, she had an unconventional path in that she was in the College of Pharmacy before applying for dentistry. After graduating Aarushi hopes to travel to third-world countries and perform dental work for the less fortunate, and eventually open up her own dental clinic. A few of Aarushi’s hobbies include basketball, photography, music, travelling, and volunteering
Marianna Pozdirca
Pharmacy Student
As a first-year pharmacy student, Marianna is part of the first cohort of PharmD students at the University of Manitoba. Regardless of where her career will take her, she is dedicated to advocating for evidence-based patient-centred care.
Marianna is a graduate of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and is committed to lifelong learning. While in high school, she volunteered at a neuroimmunology lab investigating the therapeutic effects of cannabinoids. More recently, she conducted neuroscience research with Dr. Chris Anderson’s lab at the Kleysen Institute for Advanced Medicine, where she explored the role of brain endothelial cells in vasodilation.
Marianna currently volunteers with Pharmacists Manitoba and sits on the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns Advocacy and Professional Affairs Standing Committee and the University of Manitoba Students’ Union University Policies Working Group. In the past, she has worked with the Winnipeg Foundation and the Prime Minister’s Youth Council.
Marianna enjoys discovering new coffee shops, reading a book, and spending time with family and friends. She is excited for Project Pulse 2019 and loves to help other students on their health sciences journey!
