Katrina is a first year student at the Canadian Mennonite University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences and was selected as one of the school’s 2020 Leadership Scholars. She serves as a First Year Representative on CMU Student Council and loves to sing with the women’s chorus. This is Katrina’s third year with Project Pulse - she joined the team as a Graphics Designer in 2018, became President in 2019, and feels honoured to be continuing her term in the role this year. Her passion and dedication to leading the team in effectively encouraging diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility to health sciences education will carry through as the team navigates an entirely online presence for the very first time. She believes that with a little extra hustle and heart, the team will be able to create meaningful opportunities for students and make positive impacts in the face of pandemic times.
Katrina graduated from Gordon Bell High School with the Class of 2020, achieving honour roll standing academics. She balanced school work, volunteer, and extra-curriculars proficiently over her entire high school career. In her Grade 12 year, she became co-captain of the varsity girls’ volleyball team, had two writing pieces published through CBC News Manitoba, and was nominated valedictorian of her graduating class.
Katrina was also involved in performing arts programs for many years, such as the school’s auditioned dance team, choral ensembles, and play productions. In addition to being a starting setter on the volleyball team, she competed and placed at the divisional level in numerous events for track & field. Katrina is also Administrative Assistant for Meraki Theatre Productions, and has found joy in advocating for the company’s goals to create change and nurture compassion. When she’s not studying, sending emails, or running meetings, Katrina’s hobbies include writing, playing the piano, and baking.
